At Hales, we are working hard in the background towards reducing our carbon footprint. Since opening in 1982 we have already made some massive shifts in how we operate day-to-day in order to reduce our carbon emissions.
Here at Hales we need heat and electricity for our production processes on-site and to power our branches.
At our site in Market Drayton we operate a biomass fired energy plant which produces the required heat for drying timber in our kiln as well as heating our shops and manufacturing sheds. The wood residues from our production process such as off-cuts and wood sawdust is directly used as fuel in the biomass energy plant to produce energy.
We also use renewable electricity generated from our solar panels where possible at both branches.
